Welcome to NCSC Early Education and Child Care! Here you will find safe, nurturing care for your child and a commitment to healthy childhood development that impacts your whole family.
At NCSC children explore, thrive and have fun. From a child-first perspective, we guide children to develop the social, emotional, intellectual and physical skills that will help them reach their full potential in school and throughout life. Each child progresses in accordance with his/her individual nature and abilities. At all times, differences in rates of maturity, interest and personality are respected.
NCSC’s programs for Infants, Toddlers and Preschoolers are structured to enable each child to maximize his/her potential through child-centered, open-ended, non-competitive experiences. Our classrooms are divided into learning areas that encourage self-initiated discoveries. Throughout the day, children are involved in individual and group play, active and quiet play, indoor and outdoor play, dramatic play, art, games, books and literacy activities, block building, cooking, laughing, exploring, discovering, and experimenting. Formal field trips to orchards and zoos and informal trips to local parks and markets expand the preschool curriculum. Multi-cultural materials and activities are important curriculum components.
At NCSC, teachers and parents work together to understand a child’s needs, interests and abilities. Our core philosophy is rooted in the Brazelton Touchpoints Approach, focusing all we do on enhancing the development of children, the competence of parents and the foundation of strong community. Forming collaborative child-parent-teacher relationships, we guide parents and whole families through the joys and stresses of early development.
Families at NCSC represent many cultures, speak many languages, and – naturally – look at life through different lenses. Teachers and staff engage in cultural competency training to enhance each families’ experience here. This rich tapestry that underlies our NCSC community strengthens our friendships and develops empathy and respect in our children. Our parents have told us, “I’ve never felt so accepted as here.”
Our teachers are caring professionals holding or studying for degrees in Early Childhood Education; many have worked in our child care program for 10 years or more. NCSC provides all staff regular training, supervision and study groups in topics related to early childhood development. NCSC's program is licensed through the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care and is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) for quality.
As part of our larger integration of family services at NCSC, clinicians from the Parents Program join our teaching teams and participate in the classrooms on a weekly basis. The clinicians enhance our social-emotional expertise and our early childhood growth and development perspective. In addition, the clinicians are available to meet with parents and/or children to provide added support around life events or when your child’s behaviors may be causing you concern.
NCSC is open 7:30am to 6:00pm Monday through Friday - 52 weeks a year.To learn why you would value a NAEYC accredited program, please click here to view a brief video.
