January 9, 2012 - Newton - Executive Director Jon Firger and Board President Hattie Kerwin Derrick announced today changes that will take place at Newton Community Service Center (NCSC) over the next six months to reaffirm our commitment to continue to serve the Newton and Waltham communities, as we have for more than 100 years, with high quality programs and services for families and children.
Help NCSC affiliated families in need of emergency food assistance and provide a welcoming and supportive environment.

All proceeds benefit the early child care programs at NCSC.

Newton Community Service Center is honored to announce three new members of its Board of Directors: Maria Conroy, Jack Douglas and Shawn Fitzgibbons. Concurrently, Hattie Kerwin Derrick took on the position of Board Chair and Lori Pearlman Slavin became Vice Chair. Stepping down from the Board are Diane Tillotson, Chair Emeritus, Shannon Falkson, Louise Hauser and Alfred Smith.
Newton Community Service Center’s Red Room won first place in their age group in Green Decade’s EnviroArt Contest. The students prepared a paper mache recycling bin using reused materials collected in their classroom and displayed photos of the students carrying plastic and paper recycling to the curbside receptacle.

Newton's teens need positive adult relationships to become thriving adults themselves. You can be that role model by volunteering at the Newton Teen Center in the evening.
We are looking for short term and long term volunteers -- chaperones, advisors and those with talents to share.
