NCSC is committed to providing child and family services that enable children (infants through teens) to become thriving adults.

Characteristics of our programs include:
Our staff is made up of trained professionals who are focused on the emotional, social and academic growth of children and teens.

Our programs are socio-economically and racially diverse. This diversity is appealing to families who want their children to be a part of a broad slice of society.

NCSC staff are innovative pioneers in strength-based child development. We are a Brazelton Touchpoints Special Project site. The Brazelton Touchpoints Program (from Boston’s Children’s Hospital) is an innovative strengths-based approach that addresses both early child development and family supports.

Our staff includes a complete range of skilled professionals in child-development: teachers, youth workers, abuse prevention specialists, therapists, counselors, home-visitors, early literacy specialists, and special education professionals.

We make every effort to provide services to children and families regardless of financial means.

We are proud of our reputation for listening closely to community needs and responding to where they are most needed: at home, at school, at our facilities, and in the community.

NCSC works closely with other community agencies, schools and city governments to ensure that comprehensive services are available to those we serve.

Early education and child care programs provide family-based and center-based care as well as out-of-school time (after school, summer camps and vacation-week) programs to children and their families.

NCSC’s Infant, Toddler and Preschool program is accredited by NAEYC.
Our summer day camp at Hale Reservation is accredited by the American Camping Association.

Our education/family counseling and support programs prevent or remedy some of the most serious problems faced by children, teens, and families and are not available elsewhere in the community. These include:

Child abuse prevention education offers training to help children avoid possibly abusive situations. We also offer parent and community group training to recognize abuse and seek help.

A home-based early literacy program--provides supports and modeling to help parents strengthen their children’s reading and communication skills. We are highly effective at serving families with teen or immigrant parents.
Family therapy, handling a wide variety of counseling issues focused around the needs of children and their families.
Parenting education and support through workshops and individual training.

Teen services guide adolescents who may be struggling in school or in life as they discover healthy and productive ways of resolving their issues and successfully transitioning into adulthood. Services include
