Dear NCSC Summer Day Camp Families,

For many years, we have enjoyed being a part of your summers, helping your children make friends and have fun, sharing the beauty of the great outdoors and so much more! So, it is unfortunate that we must announce that NCSC Summer Day Camp will not reopen for summer 2012.

Since the economic downturn in 2008, we, like many other nonprofit programs, have struggled. Government contracts were cut, foundations decreased their grants, and camp enrollment dropped. We explored a number of alternatives, but without success.

We are fortunate that there are so many other great camps in the area, several with counselor-in-training programs, and are confident that you will find one that meets the needs of your family.

Camp fairs are a great way to learn about a lot of different programs. The following are in the Newton area in January:

Newton Parks & Recreation Camp Fair
Sunday, January 29
12 - 4 at Newton North High School, 457 Walnut Street, Newton

KIDS Fair 2012
Sunday, January 29
12 - 3 at 66 Tappan Street, Brookline

There are also a number of camp directories online, including one offered by the American Camp Association, New England.

We’d recommend not just waiting for camp fairs, but checking out some of the programs online as soon as possible. For example, some of the programs offered by Newton Parks & Recreation fill up on the day of their Camp Fair!

Thank you for being a part of NCSC Summer Day Camp at Hale Reservation.

All my best,

Megan Cap-Renzi
