13,000 young people in Massachusetts have mentors. What’s holding you back?
Could you use a reliable and trusted friend? Someone who listens to you, without judgment and helps you problem solve issues that come up in your life? Someone who helps you set and reach goals?
Would you like someone to hang out with? Someone to go with to a sporting event, out for a hike, to see a movie or out to dinner?
Mentors support young people in many ways. They can help you think about the world after high school, including college and work. They can help you with your school work and help you explore your interests and your community. A mentor can help you to find your place in the world by providing encouragement and guidance.
Am I eligible to participate?
How do I refer a young person to the program?
1. Talk to your child/student/client to see if they’d be interested in having a mentor. If so, and if you are not the parent or guardian, contact the parent/guardian to ensure they would give permission for their child to participate in the program.
2. Call Debbie Tyson-Gottlieb at (617) 544-7247 to make the referral. Be ready to explain why you think the young person would benefit from the program and pass along the parent/guardian contact information.
3. Ask the young person to fill out a Mentee Application and ask the parent to complete the Parent Permission Form and send back to:
