Ask yourself the question, “What could my organization do or do better with the help of experienced, highly skilled and trained volunteers?”
SOAR 55 can help you imagine volunteer roles that could make a difference in the scope, quality and delivery of your services. We can help you recruit and manage motivated and qualified volunteers who are interested in using their experience and talents in interesting and challenging ways, either through direct service work or through leadership and consulting assignments.
Many nonprofits look to SOAR 55 volunteers to provide direct services to clients. Among the many activities our volunteers perform are: tutoring to students, preschool to adult; mentoring inmates through MCI Framingham’s Boston University Prison Education Program or adolescents who need encouragement to stay in school, elderly assistance and support, environmental advocacy and financial coaching.
SOAR 55 recruits skills-based volunteers to contribute their professional and business skills to nonprofit organizations in both long term and short term assignments. Long term volunteers take on significant roles in areas such as program development, volunteer management, IT projects, and fundraising and development. To explore the diversity of our experience, take a look at the biographies of some of our consultants in the Partial Listing of Volunteer Consultants.
To apply for direct service and/or leadership volunteers, organizations are asked to complete a Volunteer Request for Services, a Volunteer Job Description, and a Memorandum of Understanding, also found in the Resources and Attachments to the left.
The SOAR 55 Nonprofit Management Consulting Group is another way volunteers can help with organizational issues. Qualified volunteers undergo a rigorous training after which they are placed in teams to help nonprofits with a short term project (lasting 3 to 6 months) such as strategic plans, business plans and marketing and outreach. Nonprofit organizations must complete a Consulting Group Request for Services form. Once the application is accepted, a team is assigned and is under the direction of a professional coach for the duration of the project. To see the kind of projects we've done in the past, please view SOAR's Partial Listing of Consulting Projects and our Volunteer Consultants' Biographies.
