Get involved in our early literacy program as a Home Visitor in the Parent-Child Home Program (PCHP). PCHP is an early literacy program for low-income, low-literacy families living in Newton, Needham, Waltham, and Wellesley.
You will work with children 16 months to 4 years and their parent by bringing a new book or toy (provided by program) each week to the family to model and encourage verbal interaction between parent and child. These home-based visits occur twice a week for one half hour to each assigned family during the school year. We have a special need for Spanish speaking volunteers.
Time commitment: A one-year commitment of 6 hours/week is required. Volunteers must commit to one year and attend initial training sessions and weekly peer supervision/staff meeting on Thursdays from 12:00-2:00pm.
